About Mason

Mason was a gifted student-athlete who put his heart into everything he did. He loved math as much as the game of basketball and discovered he was a natural talent in track and field, specifically in high jump.

He was bright, kind, courageous, and charismatic. And could light up a room and make everyone he spoke with feel as though they were his best friend. He treated people with respect and was loving. He was loved and he loved his family, teammates and friends dearly. His friends describe him as the most selfless, supportive, and genuine person they knew. In school, his smile and laugh were infectious, his sense of style never went unnoticed, and his advocacy for mental health changed his peers for the better. He inspired everyone who was around him.

At the onset of the pandemic, Mason began to struggling emotionally. Despite, having support from family, Mason suffered in silence wearing a façade to mask his mental anguish. Sadly, he died by suicide on January 7, 2022 at 17 years old. While his life was short, his impact was enormous.

The goal of the Mason Williams Foundation is to provide mental health resources and support to teenagers and their educators.
